Shauna Newcomb was raised in New Jersey and moved to Maryland 20 years ago. She has spent much of that time teaching middle school students and currently teaches English language arts and history. Shauna enjoys helping students discover their potential and develop critical thinking skills, empowering them to explore new ideas, solve problems, and grow as confident learners.

Michaela Brodie-Willey has been with WDS for over 5 years. During her time at WDS, she has primarily taught Middle School Math and Science, though she briefly taught Pre-K when she first joined the school.

Michaela earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (K-6) from Salisbury University, with a minor in Environmental Studies. Her passion for environmental science has inspired her involvement with WDS’s Green School Program, where she has helped establish a student-led recycling initiative and spearheaded efforts to rehabilitate the school’s outdoor habitat area.

Michaela’s goal is to create a classroom environment that fosters learning through curiosity, problem-solving, and discovery. She strives to help students understand how the content and skills they learn in the classroom apply to real-world situations, encouraging them to become thoughtful, engaged learners.
