The WDS Science curriculum builds a strong foundation in scientific understanding by guiding students from basic observation and exploration in the early grades to more complex scientific concepts and systems in middle school. In Kindergarten through 4th grade, students explore topics such as the human body, plants and animals, weather, matter, energy, and simple machines through hands-on experiments and observation, developing an understanding of how the natural world works. As students progress into grades 5–8, they deepen their knowledge across major scientific fields, including astronomy, chemistry, physics, biology, and environmental science, while also learning scientific processes such as research, experimentation, and data analysis. The curriculum emphasizes inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world application to help students understand scientific principles and how they relate to everyday life.
